It can feel very vulnerable and it takes courage to begin therapy. I recognize and honor this by providing a safe environment for your healing journey. I bring compassion to each session, and when needed, a gentle nudge to encourage your growth. I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and your ability to overcome adversity.

I am person-centered, strength-based, and interpersonal in my work with my clients, and I use a mix of therapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS – also known as “Parts” work), Gottman Method, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Existentialism (Meaning-Making), and Psycho-Education. I have also been trained in EMDR and use some elements of this modality to inform my practice.

However, research shows that more important than the therapeutic modality used is the therapeutic relationship, which is why my main approach is Interpersonal, and the relationship between you and I is the first thing I develop in our work together, as it is the foundation from which change happens. Those I work with know that I am always on their team, rooting for them, and believing in their ability to change and grow. I believe that I am given a very sacred trust when another human shares the stories and experiences of their life with me, and I treat that with the utmost respect.

When we are in emotional distress, we often feel a sense of disconnection, not only with those around us, but from ourselves. This is painful because it is human nature to need to feel connection. This is why I also work to help you develop a strong relationship with yourself, so that you can recognize, trust, and honor your needs. This then allows you to create what Martin Luther King Jr. referred to as “beloved community,” as you begin to develop healthy and strong relationships with friends, partners, colleagues, and family. To achieve this, I often work with people to develop healthy communication skills, as well as to gain insight into relationships that are unhealthy so they can set necessary boundaries thereby preserving their energy and efforts for the relationships that matter the most to them.

I am grateful for the privilege of working along side others like me, who are on the path of healing and wholeness.
